Project: The META, a nutrition-tracking application developed under AlexIn Motion. My role: Product design and development across the mobile app, backend, and companion coaching interface. Platforms: iOS and Android.

The idea

Keeping a food journal can involve a lot of repetitive input. I built The META to offer several ways to record meals, bring daily tracking into one interface, and support the conversation between a nutrition coach and their clients.

The project combines my interest in nutrition with mobile development, API integration, and practical uses of AI.

What the app does

  • Multiple ways to log a meal: a text description, a plate photo, a nutrition label, a barcode, an ingredient list, or a saved favorite.
  • AI-assisted input: estimates from descriptions and images that users can review and edit before confirming a meal.
  • A daily journal: meals, calorie and macronutrient tracking, steps, and weight in one place.
  • Progress views: history charts and body-measurement tracking over time.
  • Native integrations: step synchronization with Apple HealthKit on iOS and Health Connect on Android.
  • A personalized interface: multilingual support, light and dark themes, and selectable color accents.
  • A companion coaching interface: a web application for reviewing client journals, following progress, and managing individual goals.

A look at the interface

These selected promotional screenshots show the daily journal and the meal-analysis screen. The last image has a Spanish promotional heading; the interface shown in all three captures is French.

What I brought together

I developed the mobile application with React Native, Expo, and TypeScript, alongside a PHP backend and a companion web interface. The work spans camera and barcode input, native health integrations, data visualization, localization, and the connection between the mobile and coaching experiences.

AI is one part of that product, rather than its entire purpose. Its role is to help with meal entry, with a review step before the result becomes part of the journal. Nutrition estimates remain estimates, not a claim of clinical accuracy.

This is the kind of project I enjoy: turning a practical need into a complete application across mobile and web.
